An Update from Cheryl Slader:
Cheryl Slader here, just wanting to give a little update for you.
But first, before, the update, I'd like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for all of your love and support throughout the years. It's been very difficult for me until now, to be able to write this and honestly it's still quite hard but here goes...
Quite a few months back I unfortunately was forced to close Blue Sky Yoga. I ran the studio for close to almost 30 years and I believe I was one of the first "pay what you can" donation based studios, Las Vegas had ever seen and maybe ever will. The previous owner of the Arts Factory, Wes, is a very kind man who believed in me and my vision to offer yoga in such a way. I always felt welcome there and part of the beautiful family that made up the Arts Factory.
When the new owner took over who I never met, I didn't feel the same kind of feeling. Many times "management" spoke of getting more money for the space and not keeping me there. On the last occasion of signing my new lease another new property manager had a conversation with me. I mentioned, being totally open, that I was dealing with cancer and I was asking about the length of the lease which had been previously verbally promised to me at my same rate. With the mentioning of cancer the new manager got very upset which confused me, and the next day I received an eviction notice on the door stating "no cause to quit." Because I did not yet have a new lease although I'd been paying my rent on time and never missed a payment all the decades that I've been there, I could not legally fight the decision.
I realized that it might be time to not give up on Blue Sky Yoga but to reinvent it the best that I could. Someday it would be beautiful to have a new welcoming location but until then I am doing the best that I can and will keep you all updated along my journey.
Currently I am teaching privates and groups in my home or yours and online and I'm also teaching most Wednesday nights 5:30pm inside of Herbally Grounded on W Charleston. They have been so kind to host me, which allows me to keep the donation based model.
I have been focusing on my health and striving to be not just a survivor but a thriver and to continue serving others as best as I can and to also take care of my self. Cancer has taught me that we must take care of ourselves first even when we want to so much put others before ourselves. I still have a lot of work to do on this planet and hoping to be around for a while. The cancer is stage 4 but I am doing my best to stay positive and seek new treatments.
I can still teach well, all aspects of yoga, ect, and would love to offer classes to anyone who would like. I also have some private YouTube videos that I can offer as well.
Please contact me via email: teachpeacenow2@gmail.com or phone 702-592-1396.
I am accepting any donations via my website donation button, which will support my health and my work with afterschool yoga.
Thank you for reading and thanks again for the love.
Many Blessings & Namaste,
Cheryl/ Priya

Yoga is a connectedness that all beings share- a union of mind, body, and spirit- a state of missing nothing. Our vision at Blue Sky is to make yoga available to ALL, no matter their financial situation.
Toward achieving that end, we offer these sacred teachings by donation only. Please pay what you can, when you can, and if today you can give a bit more for someone less fortunate, please do so. Love is what makes the world go round!
Many blessings,
Namaste.

Thank you for your support. Namaste.
